Named Major Series Lacrosse Most Valuable
Defenseman

24, 2006 - Major Series Lacrosse commissioner
Jim Brady is pleased to announce Scott Self
(Peterborough, Ont.) of the Peterborough
Lakers as the 2006 recipient of the Merv
McKenzie Trophy which is awarded to the
MSL Most Valuable Defenseman. This is his
second straight honour becoming just the
fourth player in league history to win it
back-to-back years.
In
his fifth season in the MSL Self continued
to show why he is one of the top defenders
in the league leading the two-time defending
MSL Champion Lakers to a 13-4-1 regular
season record. He also provided some offense
finishing the season with eight goals and
six assists for 14 points in 17 games.
The
other Major Series Lacrosse major award
winners will be announced throughout the
week.
