Player Still Has Lacrosse to Play This Summer
August
24, 2006 - While most members of the Brooklin
Redmen have packed up their equipment for
the summer and look forward to the National
Lacrosse League season, there is still some
lacrosse to play for Redmen sophomore, Jeff
Zywicki
Zywicki
and his Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse
will travel to Los Angeles, California this
weekend to take part in the New Balance
Championship Weekend. The Outlaws will battle
the San Francisco Dragons in one semi final
on August 25, 2006 while the Boston Cannons
will meet the Philadelphia Barrage in the
other. The winners will meet Sunday August
27, 2006 for the M.L.L. Championship game.
Major
League Lacrosse is a 10 team professional
field lacrosse league that has teams such
as: the Chicago Machine, Denver Outlaws,
Los Angeles Riptide and the San Francisco
Dragons of the Western Conference, while
the six original teams Baltimore
Bayhawks, Boston Cannons, Long Island Lizards,
New Jersey Pride, Philadelphia Barrage and
Rochester Rattlers are in the Eastern Conference.
Zywicki
played four games for the Outlaws after
the Dragons traded him on June 30, 2006
and scored six goals and added three assists
for nine points. The Outlaws finished first
in the Western Conference with a record
of 10 wins and two losses for 20 points.
Fellow
Brooklin Redmen teammates Stephen Hoar and
A.J. Shannon also played lacrosse this summer
south of the border. They were teammates
on the Rochester Rattlers. The Rattlers
struggled with a record of five wins and
seven losses for 10 points and were eliminated
from playoff contention. Hoar played in
10 games for the Rattlers and scored six
goals added two assists for eight points,
while Shannon played in six games prior
to his season ending injury and scored seven
times with four assists for 11 points.
