Redmen Player Still Has Lacrosse to Play This Summer

August 24, 2006 - While most members of the Brooklin Redmen have packed up their equipment for the summer and look forward to the National Lacrosse League season, there is still some lacrosse to play for Redmen sophomore, Jeff Zywicki

Zywicki and his Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse will travel to Los Angeles, California this weekend to take part in the New Balance Championship Weekend. The Outlaws will battle the San Francisco Dragons in one semi final on August 25, 2006 while the Boston Cannons will meet the Philadelphia Barrage in the other. The winners will meet Sunday August 27, 2006 for the M.L.L. Championship game.

Major League Lacrosse is a 10 team professional field lacrosse league that has teams such as: the Chicago Machine, Denver Outlaws, Los Angeles Riptide and the San Francisco Dragons of the Western Conference, while the six original teams – Baltimore Bayhawks, Boston Cannons, Long Island Lizards, New Jersey Pride, Philadelphia Barrage and Rochester Rattlers are in the Eastern Conference.

Zywicki played four games for the Outlaws after the Dragons traded him on June 30, 2006 and scored six goals and added three assists for nine points. The Outlaws finished first in the Western Conference with a record of 10 wins and two losses for 20 points.

Fellow Brooklin Redmen teammates Stephen Hoar and A.J. Shannon also played lacrosse this summer south of the border. They were teammates on the Rochester Rattlers. The Rattlers struggled with a record of five wins and seven losses for 10 points and were eliminated from playoff contention. Hoar played in 10 games for the Rattlers and scored six goals added two assists for eight points, while Shannon played in six games prior to his season ending injury and scored seven times with four assists for 11 points.
