Brampton Defeats Brooklin 15-13, Advances to MSL Championship

Aug 16, 2006 - The Brampton Excelsiors defeated the Brooklin Redmen by the score of 15-13 at the Powerade Centre Wednesday night to clinch the best of seven series 4-1 and advance to the MSL Championship.

Brampton led 13-6 six minutes into the third, before Brooklin answered with six straight to bring it within one goal 13-12 with 3:21 remaining. Colin Doyle would add his third of the night and the eventual game winner with 2:33 left in regulation.

Josh Sanderson led the Excelsiors with seven points addiing two goals and five assists. Colin Doyle and Brodie Merrill both contributed with three goals and two assists.

For Brooklin, Shawn Williams (3G, 4A) and Jeff Zywicki (2G, 5A) both added seven points each while Mike Accursi finished with three goals and three helpers in the loss.

The Excelsiors Brandon Miller recorded his 11th victory of the season in goal as he remained undefeated in 2006 improving his overall record to 11-0-2.
