Six
Nations signs Casey Powell for 2008 MSL Season

12, 2008 - Six Nations Chiefs General Manager
Duane Jacobs announced the signing of Casey Powell
(Syracuse, NY) a member of the New York Titans
of the National Lacrosse League.
"Arguably
the best outdoor lacrosse player in the world,
Casey has developed into one of the premier box
lacrosse players in today's game," said Jacobs.
"We look forward to Casey helping our team
in our quest for the Mann Cup."
With
New York in 2008, Powell finished eighth in NLL
Scoring recording 32 goals and 54 assists for
86 points in 16 games. In just their second season
in the league, the Titans reached the NLL Eastern
Division Finals losing to the top seeded Buffalo
Bandits.
"I'm
excited about playing summer ball in Canada again,
said Powell. "It has been 14 years since
I played Junior for the Toronto Beaches and I
am thrilled to get the opportunity to play for
Duey and JD."
In
his only season in Canada in 1994, Powell recorded
29 points in eight games with the Toronto Beaches
in the OLA Junior A.
"To
play in Six Nations with the great lacrosse heritage
and culture and with the amazing players that
come from there, helped me with the decision.
I look forward to playing with and learning from
gifted offensive players like Point, Powless and
Vyse."
In
college, Powell was three-time first-team All-American
for Syracuse University in 1996, '97 and '98.
He helped the Orangemen win the 1995 NCAA National
Championship. He was named the Division I Most
Outstanding Player two years in a row (1997, 1998),
the Division I National Attackman of the Year
(1998) and Division I National Midfielder of the
Year (1996). He was also selected to the NCAA
All-Tournament team four straight seasons.
Powell
was a member of the U.S. National Team in 1998
and 2006. In 1998, he was a member of the U.S.
squad that hoisted the International Lacrosse
Federation's Championship cup.
Six
Nations opens the 2008 Major Series Lacrosse season
at home on May 24th at 7pm when they host the
Brampton Excelsiors.
